ZimWorX visits Uncommon.org hubs

On 27 April 2022 ZimWorX team undertook a familiarization tour of 2 centers in Mufakose and Kuwadzana run by Uncommon.org, a non-profit founded by Peter Kazickas. In line with our passion of making a positive impact globally, the thrust was to investigate how ZimWorX can partner with Uncommon to bring an impact to these communities.The centers, popularly called Innovation Hubs train and equip unemployed young adults with free education programs that launch them into the technology industry. Joining hands in alleviating period poverty in Harare

The month of April saw ZimWorX partnering with Daisies Daisies Foundation (DF) in an effort to alleviate period poverty in Harare. DF is a non-profit organization which seeks to help women and children lead a life of freedom and dignity. In the past, DF has addressed period poverty issues through distributing re-usable pads to women and girls, mostly those who due to financial constraints cannot afford the disposable pads. These usually resort to unhygienic alternatives like corn cobs, leaves or cow dung. The re-usable pads are imported from South Africa due to unavailability on the local market. There was a positive disruption of activity at Rugare Orphan Care yesterday when JW Oliver and our Pastoral Care Team visited the center. As it is a social norm in Zimbabwe that one does not visit a friend or relative empty handed, the visitors had 25 books to give to orphans at the center. A scar in the conscience of the Church

The rate at which drug and substance abuse in increasing in our communities is alarming. There is need for a multi-stakeholder approach in combating this menace. The Barbershop Handover

Today was a day of jubilation as we handed over the Barbershop and Salon to the Zimbabwe Republic Police. Our Pastoral Care team oversaw the execution of this project and it was completed towards the end of 2021. The Barbershop project was conceived as an idea to give life to the Commissioner General’s Welfare Fund (CGWF). The CGWF is administered by the National Chaplaincy Department, headed by the Chaplain General of Police.
